Geographical conditions

The Corbière-Boutenac AOC is situated around the Massif Pinada, surrounded by three rivers: the Aussou, the Nielle and the Orbieu. The vineyards are situated at altitude of 180 m, sharing the ground with the traditional Mediterranean vegetation (scrubland, olive tree, holm oak, pine, arbutus, juniper, thyme, rosemary). The relief is made up of a succession of small hills. There are 3 geographical regions (North-West, South-East, South) that have a direct influence on the climatic conditions. These hills are tempered by both the Cers, a strong and healthy wind from the North-West, and moist winds from the sea. The typical Mediterranean climate is characterized by hot and dry summers and relatively mild winters. The rains are rare but unpredictable.

Production conditions

The Boutenac producers have imposed very strict specifications.  Production conditions are particularly binding, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. To ensure the best quality of wines, 3 controls by tasting commissions are made throughout the winemaking period. The last control made on the bottled wines ensures consumers the authenticity and quality of the Boutenac wines.

Organoleptic characteristics

Corbières-Boutenac are southern wines, elaborated still respecting tradition whilst using the most up-to-date techniques. Carignan has a profound impact on the profile and structure of the wines of Corbières-Boutenac, characterized by a deep robe with purple streaks, particularly when the vines are young. Blended with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, it develops scents of spices and ripe fruits with notes of mocha. The Corbières-Boutenac wines are powerful and generous, structured by well-blended and harmonious tannins, they are warm, clean and straighforward and can be kept ten years in the calm and cool of a cellar.
